Tour Itinerary

Day Tour: Arusha – Lake Chala

Your friendly local guide will meet you at your accommodation, lunchbox in hand, ready to kick off your adventure. From there, you’ll be whisked away toward Lake Chala Safari Camp, passing through the vibrant everyday scenes of Moshi before joining the main highway. Sit back and enjoy the scenic, comfortablee just over an hour through the changing Tanzanian landscape.

Lake Chala Safari Camp is a serene private reserve perched on the rim of the lake, offering breathtaking views of this ancient volcanic caldera. Once there, your guide will lead you on a short trek through lush, green foliage down to the lakeshore. The terrain near the water can get rocky, so don’t forget to wear good walking shoes!

This tranquil spot is a paradise for nature lovers, hikers, and birdwatchers. With luck and good timing, you might even spot elephants at a distant watering hole during certain seasons. Explore scenic trails around the lake and across the open savannah, where you’re likely to encounter baboons, vervet and blue monkeys, and perhaps even elusive species like dik-diks and kudus.

After your walk, unwind by the lakeside and enjoy the quiet—interrupted only by birdsong and the soft ripple of the lake. If you’re up for more activity, grab a kayak and glide across the calm waters, taking in the beauty from a new perspective.

Wrap up your day with a refreshing drink alcoholic or non-alcoholic at the camp’s bar. You can also enjoy a light snack before heading back. If you haven’t opted for an overnight stay (complete with campfire under a star-filled sky), your guide will drive you back to Moshi in the late afternoon. The peaceful return journey gives you time to reflect, relax, and maybe even plan your next escape to this hidden gem.
